Every year a poppy is worn to remind
All of us, the legacy our heroes left behind
And the Blood that was spilled on foreign soil
So we citizens, for peace, wouldn't have to toil.
We should wear the poppy with great pride
And much thanksgiving
In honour of the veterans who sacrificially died
And for those still living
Who endured all the untold horror and strife
To give us freedom and a better quality of life.
Yes, it's the least we can do,
To wear this symbol of remembrance in full view
As a clear sign that we did not forget
The formidable task accomplished by each veteran
And that all of us should not cease
To repay this enormous debt
By daily striving worldwide to keep the peace.
